Fuenlabrada, 2020
With the support of the Pinardi Foundation, the U.S. Embassy in Madrid and tons of excitement, we launched our camp in the city of Fuenlabrada, a suburban town in the Madrid area that presents an interesting demographic picture marked by youth and diversity. Over the past few years, the town has been working towards interculturality and integration of immigrants, and with the full support of the Mayor’s office, we made our first three-day-STEM-robotics program come true.
We had the support of an extraordinary team of volunteer teachers with extensive experience in LEGO robotics.
The participants were amazing, by the end of the course they were familiar enough with the LEGO EV3 programming environment to be able to solve simpler tasks from the LEGO Space Challenge. We helped teach how to build robots and how to code and program them. It feels really good being able to help others.
We are proud to say that this initiative made a huge impact on the community and fully achieved its goals. As a result of our initiative, Naranjoven Youth Center created a permanent robotics club where other children are continuing to develop their skills.
