Let´s Bot!
Windsor, 2024

Gender disparities in STEM are an undeniable reality. The main drivers, confirmed both by our experience and research, are forces found in almost all cultures. From high school, and even earlier, girls are instilled with gender-related stereotypes about STEM. This leads many of them to doubt their ability to pursue education and careers in this field. This vicious cycle perpetuates itself, as many talented women do not pursue career opportunities in STEM fields, depriving young people of inspiring female role models. This phenomenon, combined with social pressure to assume traditionally “girly” roles, leads many bright young women to opt for more “feminine” activities and clubs.

At the beginning of the workshop, the girls had no prior knowledge of robotics. However, as the program progressed, their knowledge and confidence grew rapidly as they applied what they learned to solve programming challenges. Robotics provides a platform for developing technical and programming skills, areas historically dominated by males.

Let’s Bot! promotes equal opportunities, allowing  girls to discover their talent in fields that have not welcomed them. By encouraging them to pursue STEM education through hands-on instruction leading to tangible results—robots that work! —we promote equality, female empowerment, leadership skills, and confidence. At the same time, we contribute to dismantling deeply rooted gender stereotypes.
